I'm Starting a Blog

Hello, dear reader...

My name is Alec Lowrey, but some of you know that I also go by my online/musical name, PixelRust. I have been sharing my thoughts and talking with some great people on Twitter, but I could never really come up with how I could translate that kind of behavior to a blog. Just this week, however, I have found a solution: talk about things in greater detail than Twitter's one-hundred-forty character limit will allow, and share some opinions on a regular basis.

If this is your first time really getting to know me, I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and I enjoy making electronic music. I even signed a record deal recently with indie label Pink Dolphin Music/Melting Clock Records so I had a platform for future releases. You can listen to my work on my SoundCloud page or my website. My new EP is coming in April, so look forward to it.

I made back in the day
I have always been a very creative person. When I was a kid, I have tried to be everything from a cartoonist to a classical composer to a painter to a game designer. However, it wasn't until 2013 until I slowly but surely started to fall in love with modern music when I started to pay more attention to what was popular at the time, thanks to the return of one of my favorite artists from when I was a kid, Daft Punk. I was also starting to listen to Pandora internet radio while doing homework and other such projects. My taste in music was starting to grow to the point where I wanted to make some of my own, so I found some tools online, messed around with them and put it all together in Audacity; thus, my career began to take shape.

Anyways, thanks for reading this first post! I am planning to update my blog at least once a week, and I might even toss a podcast into the mix on occasion as well. Hope you all had a great holiday, and that 2017 is no worse than 2016. All feedback is welcome!
